In word you can change how the double dash is handled under the format
menu. Arrow down to auto format and enter. Then arrow down to options
and enter. then you can tab to "hyphens with n dash and m dash." Uncheck
that and hit ok.

Hello JFW List Serve and Freedom Scientific once again:
I have had this problem since JAWS 2.0 and I am at JAWS 6.0 now, but I
just never bothered to do anything about it. It regards typing the --
in MS Word. When you do it in MS Word, a minimum of three dashes, it
states, "m-" It basically states the letter m before the dash? It has
always done this, and it has always bothered me, but I've just never
took the time to inform anybody of this. Does anyone else had this
problem? Has anyone else noticed it before?
