upper case Pitch change

A few days ago Jaws 5.00.844 stopped changing pitch when an upper case
character was typed into any new document (note pad, word pad, MS word,
Eudora etc.)
Also there is not a pitch change when reading by character.
I have done everything I can think of to correct this(repaired Jaws, did
several restores of Windows XP, played around with text processing etc.)but
nothing I have done has made one iota of difference
Have any of you ever experienced this?
The shift keys and caps lock key do produce upper case characters even
though the pitch doesn't change.
On Wednesday I sent a message about this to Freedom Scientific but as of
now I haven't heard anything from them!
This latest version of Jaws has dealt me more problems than any other
version and I have used every version from the first one marketed for Jaws
for Windows !
