Anyone having performance issues with their laptop might want to check out a
system speed optimizer such as Cacheman. They change buffer settings,
caches, swap file settings, and other factors that really make a difference
on some systems. Cacheman lets you backup your settings and comes with
templates for common scenarios. It's free too. I haven't used it with JFW
so can't tell you about it's accessibility yet.

One thing that possibly could slow down a laptop is that most come with 4800
rpm rather than 7200 rpm hard drives. Changing the cache settings from the
defaults set in windows might make a real difference depending on the type
of applications you run.
