Like I said in an earlier post if you exit the document or reboot the computer and then press f7 to invoke the spell check once again the document will react as if there's never been a spell check. Been there, done that. Judith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Okay. Boy, that's a bit of trouble to go through. I mean, I don't mind
trying it instead of my sort of kamikaze method, and I also suppose that if I were using the computer sighted and this just involved a few quick glances and mouse clicks, I'd think it was no big deal. but all those keystrokes and tab key presses and so forth. But I'm just complaining. It's not very often I need to do something like this, so it wouldn't kill me to go to the bother
now and then. Okay. Thanks again for explaining that you need to activate
that control with the spacebar. I didn't think of that.

And good luck with the problem you've been having. Sorry I couldn't have
helped, but it sounded mystifying and unfamiliar to me.

All it does is reset the spell check. You have to go back and start it by
pressing F 7.

Ah, that's interesting. Thanks. Once you activate it, what does it
actually
do? Does it recheck a document you've just spell checked? Or does it add a
new choice to the spell check dialogue?

You have to activate the recheck button with the space bar, for some
reason
it doesn't work when you pres enter. Tom

Dean,

Out of curiosity, I followed your suggestion to open the Tools/Options
menu
in Word and tab down to the Recheck Document item which, unlike the other
items in the list, isn't something you can check or uncheck, but a
control
that supposedly does something if you click on it.

So, first I typed a line of text with a bunch of misspellings in a new
Word
document. Then I ran spell check, but chose to ignore a couple of
egregiously misspelled words while correcting a couple of others.

Finished with spell check, I went into Word options, on the spelling tab,
tabbed down to that control, and pressed enter on it.

the Options dialogue closed, and I was back in my document with the line
consisting of some corrected words and others still wrong. Nothing had
been
done, and no spell checker was active. So I launched the spell checker
with
F7 as usual, to see if this control had given me permission to run spell
check again as a blank slate, but no. Spell check just rang its chime as
usual and announced that the spell check was complete. Pressing that
button
had availed me nothing.

Did you forget to mention a step in how to use this? I can't figure out
anything I might have done wrong. And by the way, if you try to launch
spell
check again, hoping for the dialogue to stay up while you look for a
"check
again" check box or button, that doesn't work, either. It just chimes and
says you're finished.

I was intrigued enough to give this a try, but it doesn't seem to work.
Any
ideas?

So I clicked on it.

To recheck the document, hit alt+t, then o, and navigate to the spelling
and
grammar page, where you will find a checkbox for recheck document. I
don't
know, because I now have Word 2007 so can't check, but perhaps when you
hit
f7 you can tab to an options button within that dialog that informs you
that
the spell check is complete, but if that can't happen, the first route
will
work.

I use Word 2000 and JAWS 8. In spell checking a document, if I have
ignored
a word or two and wish to re-spellcheck the document, how do I accomplish
this. Simply hitting F-7 only informs me that the spell check is
complete,
when in fact it is not.
