I bought version FineReader7.0 for a little over $300. I think FineReader8.0, the latest version today, runs around $400. Still this is a lot cheaper than K1000 and Open Book for close to $1000. ----- Original Message ----- From: Michael McDermott To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2006 8:56 PM Subject: Re: o c r software what version did you buy and what was the cost? ----- Original Message ----- From: harry bates To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2006 8:33 PM Subject: Re: o c r software You can get a trial version of FineReader from this web page: http://www.abbyyusa.com/ I first got the try and then buy version of FineReader, and it suits me well. You can request a trial version of this program, which you can use for 15 days to see if you like it, and also to see if you can figure out how to use it. I tried it for fifteen days, and got good tech support during that time, and this influenced my purchase of the program. If you have MS Word on your computer and a scanner, with this program you are in business. ----- Original Message ----- From: Michael McDermott To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2006 7:04 PM Subject: o c r software Hi I was wondering if any could suggest a good ocr software application use with a all and one scanner. Years ago I remember omnipage pro was a biggy, but don't know about today?
