curiously
in outlook express,
whether in, the in box, or, the folder list
insert page down which is reading the status line
reads the same when i am in outlook
100 messages 40 unread

but,
outlook express when in the in box
and press
insert up arrow
reads the entire line
sender, date, subject, and the size, and then,
1of 100

in, outlook, it doesn't tell me how many messages
are there

Using MS Outlook-XP, when I press Insert-Pagedown, my computer (JFW 6.0)
says:
528 Items, 524 Unread.

I don't know how I got it set to do that, it's just always been that
way.

Take care...
Dave

I don't think it's possible to have outlook give you both the number of
total messages and the number of unread messages together at once.
