The latest version for Skype is 1.4.0.78. It was released a few hours ago.
I just launched it, and the contact list speaks perfectly. I am able to
tell if someone is online, offline, or away. Just tab once the program is
opened and you are in the list of contacts. I am not using any scripts.
This is JAWS 7.0 out of the box.

Michael, best stick with Skype V 1.2.0.48 for now. Jaws still has issues
with the newest one I understand.
