Your problem sounds like what happens when Norton Office plug-ins are 
enabled.

Run Norton, tab and enter on the options button.
Tab and press the space bar on  miscellaneous.
You may have to use the JAWS ccursor to find it and click with left mouse 
button.

Tab and uncheck use office plug in.
Tab to okay and enter.
