hi again,

available keys and key functions depend on what model you get!

the one I have has an insert key, and page up and down on the stock keyboard and is not reliant on the function keys for these items.

I have also used desktop mode with the netbooks keyboard and had little problem with it. and there are acer netbooks with full keyboards including a number pad set available

I would contact Acer's website, ask them for the name/model number of a current unit with the keyboard features you want, and then take that to the best buy website and see what happens when you enter it.

don't forget that best buy is also an online store, and there are items online that may or may not be in your store, just as there things in my store out here in the desert that are not in a Florida store, or an Oregon store!

but... also know that if it shows up on the website, the store can get it if you push a little bit

another point, when you talk to them mention that you herd about these ones from a world wide internet list for the blind, this will both let them know that were talking about them positively, and that if they treat you badly, it will get around, and most of the time they really try hard!!! to avoid bad publicity, which will mean treat him (you) nicely as we can! without you needing to level any kind of threat at them, grins

oh a last note on the net verses store inventory, I researched for a replacement power supply from them since occasionally I can get a deal there, and I called my local store, on the net I found 400 plus power supplies for computers, running from 20 dollars to 1200 dollars, and about 86 of these would work in my computer. but when I called my store they only had two that would fit my unit, a double ball baring fan unit for 85 dollars (remember I mentioned that I live near a desert!).

got a better deal from one of my other suppliers BB's had the unit I wanted for 50 dollars while another place had the same unit for 34 each, and its a good brand name with good cooling fans so...

take care and shop till you find your best deal!

Hi Carlos,

I recently purchased an Asus 1015 EEE PC netbook. I also bumped the ram to 2 gb so I wouldn't have any slowness issues due to insufficient ram. It is
running Windows 7 which took me a little to get used to but it wasn't bad.

I have found that the netbook uses several fn key combos to perform some key
functions. Page-up is fn+cursor-up, page-down is fn+cursor-down, home is
fn+cursor-left and end is fn+cursor-right. I hope these keys help. I do not
know if they will be exactly the same on your system. However, you could
use the keyboard help to findout.

Also, I have found that using Jaws 10 some keys are not recognized by Jaws
on the netbook. I have not found anyone who can tell me how to remedy this
issue.

I use NVDA for the most part on my netbook. It recognizes all keystrokes.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

I love my netbook! It starts up a little slowly, kind of the way I
wake up sometimes, but works very nicely for what I want a computer
to do. I don't do games, so it doesn't have a lot of stress on
it. It's an HP, 1.6 ghz, 1 gb of ram, windows xP, and it's great. I
have JAWS 11 and Office 2000, which I loaded from the d-drive of
another computer through our network, and of course Eudora for
email. tons of music, which plays beautifully. since I carry a
biiiiiig gramma purse, it fits in my purse.

It has been my experience that it will do whatever I want it to.

Good luck with your choice.

Ann
