Christine,

I have an icon on my desktop called "Kill JAWS" and it's the only icon
beginning with the letter "K". This is a simple taskkill command to
surgically remove JAWS with no prompts.

Once removed I then launch JAWS again with Alt+Ctrl+J.

Saved me a lot of grief.

The command for my machine is:

%windir%\system32\taskkill.exe /f /im jfw.exe

Hi,
I shut my internal mouse off for that reason and it didn't change a
thing. I thought I was going crazy. This problem is very annoying. I
have jaws 10 with windows xp.
On a slightly separate issue, sometimes jaws locks the key board up and
only the tab key will work but not the alt or the control or other function
keys. If I don't have sighted assistance to get rid of jaws, because of
course the alt f4 won't work, I have to just do a hard boot. This seems to
happen after I lose focus a couple of times. Does this happen to anyone
else?

I find this happens often when I'm using the laptop, and I sort of assumed
it was because of the mouse pad (the kind that sighted people use with
their fingertip) being right in the middle that somehow, my fingers
reaching for keys or the space bar or alt key or something are triggering
that mouse pad thing.
   Does that make any sense?

Funnily enough, I've never had the sticky keys issue. I'm not exactly
sure
what's causing the other issue, though granted that's largely because I
haven't bothered to troubleshoot it.

James,

Hmmm. Doesn't happen to me except very rarely with JAWS 9. Perhaps this
is
also related to the video chip involved?

I do always have (and will probably always have) the issue with sticky
keys,
such as Alt or Ctrl being "stuck" and needing to press rapidly to clear.
I
guess this was never resolved since back in the days of JAWS 3 and 4. Ah,
well...

I'm not sure it's a JAWS 10 issue. I have the same problem from time to
time, often when replying to or otherwise sending an email. Same thing
occasionally when closing IE, and other programs. I'm running the latest
build of JAWS 9.

Yep. One of the reasons I dumped JAWS 10 and went back to JAWS 9. I was
constantly having problems in IE as well.

JAWS 10 with Windows XP and Office 2000 and Eudora does the same
thing. It's pretty casual about what it reads--often the screen I
just closed, as though it were still open.

Jaws professional 10.0.1511 with Vista ultimate and Office 2007.

While in Outlook I respond to a message.
Hit alt s to send and Jaws leaves me at a blank screen.
I always have to alt tab back into outlook.

This strange occurance also happens in several other applications.
It especially occurs when I alt f4 out of a program.
