When you type control-e followed by text to be centered, the centering
continues until you change the alignment. If you highlight something you
have already typed and then center it, the centering is limited to the
highlighted text. Your eratic margins are very probably do to an alignment
command that needs to be changed.

Insert-f (PC cursor) will read current formatting. Additionally,
configuration manager (insert-f2), then Speech and sounds manager will
report all kinds of text formatting variations for proofreading.

Insert-f1-f1 will put you into the JFW information for the current
application--including set up suggestions and hot keys.

Insert-f1 will summarize the document.
