Hi Bruce,
I don't see any reason to wax philosophical about it.  The fact is that this 
is not an example of there being two ways to do something specific in 
Windows.  this is an example of a Jaws command duplicating redundantly, and 
for no purpose anyone seems able to explain,  a function that already has a 
reliable Windows keyboard action.  Your remark is simply nonresponsive to my 
inquiry.  Thank you for your thoughts, however.  Every fresh opinion is 
important to hear again.

Does it matter? Is it that detremental to your life? In Windows there are
at least two ways of doing just about everything, why not htis?
