You may also already be able to do this using Office, depending on
what version/edition you have available.

I know this works in Office 2003 Pro, but not sure about others.

Print to a file using the Microsoft Document Writer software printer,
then use the Microsoft Document Imaging tool (found in the Office
Tools program group if you have it)to perform the OCR on the just
created file.

This will work for .djvu (a pdf alternative I've encountered a few
times) as well as .pdf files.  The imaging tool also came with at
least some Office editions prior to 2003, but not the correct software
printer, office xp for instance only has the XPS driver.
