To learn HTML coding you might want to check out the blind programming site. 
they have some good, free references that might help. You can get some free 
web space at places like geocities.com but they will put advertisements on 
your site. Depending on your ISP, they may offer some free space as part of 
your service. Usually it isn't intended for high traffic business pages, 
just a place to slap a home page out there.

I recently found a place called freeservers.com that offers free web space 
but you have to use their web interface to get your pages on line. For a 
very small fee of $8 or less you can get much more space and the priveledge 
to ftp your pages in. Also extra pop mail boxes for your domain.
