This is a good topic for JFW users. I purchased a 120 Gig External Hard Drive from Iomega and have it installed to my USB 2 Port. I was able to install this Hard Drive completely by myself and had it up and running in about 45 minutes ready to install the Casper software which I completely installed my self!
I am using Casper for Back up software it creates a Bootable Copy of my hard drive and as mention by Kelly in case of a Emergency I can simply un plug two cables that are at my access with out tearing any thing a part and carry away the Hard Drive with a complete copy of my Hard Drive for installing on another Hard Drive. I also have a manual for Casper printed and contained in a Manila Envelope with a CD containing a copy of Casper and word files with my password and purchase receipt with user name and password there for easy access.
Why is this a good topic for JFW users well it is because it is easy and completely safe and JFW Friendly!
Good luck
Dick

I thought about the option you described and the victims of brushfires in California and hurricanes in Florida and the gulf coast crossed my mind. If the cops started to drive around the neighborhood and announce on their PA system that a major disaster was imminent and that we needed to leave our homes in five minutes and either drive away or board a bus at the end of the block to go to a safe location, I don't want to be unscrewing hard drives from my computer or fiddling with drive cases and adapter kits. all I would need to do is unplug the power cable and USB cord and put my drive in my suitcase or backpack, board the bus to safety, and wait out the disaster. If my home is destroyed, I can quickly access all my data by plugging the drive into essentially any computer. I realize that external drives are more expensive but they offer more flexibility and universality than other solutions.

Thanks for all the info and advice , Kelly. Instead of getting an external
hd, I might get a USB hard drive adaptor that will let me use any hd. I'll
also check out SmartSync Pro. I'm glad it's shareware. I hope it works
with any drive.
