The transfer wizard is supposed to save your desktop settings and display settings I believe. Sinse your problem seems to have been operating system related then you don't really want to completely back the installed updates just the programs which contain the updates. The download site from microsoft should have them in addition to the automatic patch form. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Reid" <Tom.Reid2@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 25, 2004 10:10 PM Subject: backing up pc > Hi folks, > after massive updating and reinstalling... Are there programs to back up the machine so that I can copy stuff back on to it without doing reinstalling myself and so that it would keep its windows updates. > > Does anyone know for instance what xp's transfer wizard does? > > Thanks, > > Tom > > > -- > To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line. > Archives located at: //www.freelists.org/archives/jfw > > If you have any concerns about the list, post received from the list, or the way the list is being run, do not post them to the list.
