Hey Bob, I know what you mean. I use Jaws 10 on a Windows Xp pro machine. I also use Outlook 2003. I've noticed that when reading e-mail messages or something on the web that Jaws doesn't say words correctly especially if it has an apostrophe in it I feel like I didn't spell the word correctly but it seems to be a Jaws problem. Does anyone know why this is happening? It's quite annoying when you're trying to read text and Jaws can't even say the word that has the apostrophe in it correctly. Any help would be most appreciative. I did try that but it made words with apostrophes sound strange like don t and can t. Thanks for the idea. I just don't understand why this is still a problem. So many editors have "smart quotes" that seem to make apostrophes instead of quote marks. I tried all the punctuation levels in jaws but can't shut them up. When I read some scanned books, they have apostrophes instead of quotes. How do I get Jaws to stop saying apostrophe when there is a quotation? It drives me nuts! I tried setting punctuation levels but it doesn't stop apostrophes being spoken when they are used instead of quotes. Bob
