all characters

I have a computer that is really messed up.  I can go to my desktop and when I 
tab
or open My Documents, for one example, I hear most characters, some characters, 
all
characters etc.  as I arrow up and down.  Just about anywhere I go, I hear the 
same
thing.  Can someone help?  I'm using jaws 8 with XP. Is this a windows problem 
or jaws.
