it's both necessary and a nightmare, but it's best to wait till early november to give them time to work out the kinks or at least some of the kinks. Is this update necessary, or is it a nightmare? Any experience with this update out there? Also, slightly off-topic, Can we PLEASE stop including every message in a thread with our responses? I use digest mode, and as many digest mode users do, I search on "subject:" to skip from message to message. This becomes difficult when every message in a thread is included with every response to a thread--making the digest "huge" and unwieldy for digest users. I think the people reading the response know what the thread is about and don't really need to have the entire history of the thread attached with each response. Perhaps attaching only the most recent message in the thread-if necessary-for contextual purposes would be more helpful and the least burdensome approach. Simply whittling down the size of the message before hitting "send" would help us out alot.
