Laura etal, Southwestern Bell (SBC) will assist with the installation of the router if you are visually impaired. I pay $29 per month for the internet connection and we have three computers on it. SBC currently has a deal where the equipment is something like $50, not all bad. JAWS seems happy with most of the arrangement. I am using JAWS 5.0.6 whatever came in the installation CD, XP Home and Microsoft Outlook. The problem was that we paid a $79.99 monthly service fee for all three of the PC's along with the wireless network they installed. I spoke to a friend though, who is Microsoft Certified and he informed me he would be able to network the house with all three PC's, wirelessly, and the total amount would be less than what you would pay road runner in four months. Well, I told him I wanted only the best simply because I am so dependant on the PC. We went and purchased all of the stuff at CompUSA and it's total was a little less than $250.00, and we were able to get a $40.00 mail in rebate with it too. Well, now all three PC's have access to the internet, we have a router as our firewall, and it is simply fantastic. My friend, who is Microsoft Certified, arranged it so that the newest PC is the one who can send and extract items and software to and from the other PC's and the others are merely drones. I would only imagine the only reason you would need the MS Certified person there to install the wireless network for you is to ensure that one of the PC's will be the master and the others will be drones. To reiterate, however, wireless networking is simply the way to go...
