Your adapter has to work with your router on the router side.  For me it's a
card I slip into my dsl modem but that card must be compatable with the
modem.
On the client side, your computer that receives the wireless connection, any
adapter will work.  That is the technical issues you will have as far as
router
interfaces go, someone else can answer.
