Hi, Just to chime in with a not-so-negative report about allowing WinAmp agent to be there in the System Tray. I have a current version of WinAmp installed and, as with a couple of earlier versions I've kept on my system, I've taken the option during the installation to put the Agent in the system tray. So far as I know, that hasn't caused my computer to crash, or grabbed media files and tried to play them when I've assigned them to Windows Media Player or Real Player, or any of that. Ever. I believe it must misbehave badly for other people who report it doing so, but that hasn't been my own experience, on two or three different computers, running under two different versions of Windows, and so forth. Just my personal experience, nothing more. e ----- Original Message ----- From: Flor Lynch To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, December 11, 2006 10:43 AM Subject: Re: WinAmp Agent It has nothing to do with JAWS. I just disable the agent; and have found (and have also seen other messages - on other llists - confirming) that Winamp has become increasingly more buggy. (It tries to play files that it cannot, like some .asx files which Windows Media Player can play no problem.) If you want to try with the Winamp Agent enabled, go with it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Cher Bosch To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, December 11, 2006 5:43 PM Subject: Re: WinAmp Agent I have heard that several years ago, and that is why I raised the question. Do you know if it is still an issue with XP and recent versions of JAWS? (You do this by unchecking it, in the list of items that comes up during installation.) ----- Original Message ----- From: Cher Bosch To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, December 08, 2006 5:39 PM Subject: WinAmp Agent Does this still create conflicts with current versions of JAWS? If so, is it adequate to disable it from the system tray or do I need to uninstall/reinstall WinAmp and this time not install that component? Thanks.
