The Locking code is a unique number based on the hardware components in your computer. It can change if you make a major modification to your PC. It's generated by the PC itself. That's why sometime you need to re-activate JAWS if you add or remove some major hardware components like IDE drives or CD-ROMS. JAWS licensing requires the locking code as a way to ensure that it's not installed on too many computers. A new locking code tells JAWS that your activation is no longer valid. It is not the authorization 20-digit code you get from FS to install JAWS. If that one is lost, you need to contact FS directly to get it again. I see the lock code whenever I activate a new version of JAWS, but at no other time. What is the purpose of this yet another series of numbers??? -- JFW related links: JFW homepage: http://www.freedomscientific.com/ Scripting mailing list: http://lists.the-jdh.com/listinfo.cgi/scriptography-the-jdh.com JFW List instructions: To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
