Hi,
It's like having an operating system inside your computer, so you could be
running say a host machine with xp, and a vm running a server operating
system.

Dave,
I will be using it for taking some on-line courses. It will supposedly
allow me to use a lab server for the classes.
That is about all I can tell you since I have never dealt with VMWare
before.
