Months ago, with the help of an online audio tutorial I can't remember the
location of, I installed the Google Tool Bar in IE6., solely in order to
enable the Google pop-up blocker and see how it performed.
Now I've discovered that, although it effectively blocks a host of annoying
(or, with Jaws, potentially confounding) pop-ups, it also somehow manages to
prevent the launching of desired new pages on some sites as well as a number
of streaming audio functions, such as the sample preview readings from
audible.com. I of course attempt in these situations to override the
blocker with the designated key, which in my case is the Shift key. Though
on some sites that works fine, on others I get a Page Not Found display from
my browser.
A knowledgeable friend is pretty sure that when this happens, it's because
the new pages or the audio players are Java based, and just pressing the
override key doesn't work in such cases.
So I'd like to disable the Google Pop-up Blocker, or even just remove the
Google Tool Bar altogether, since I don't use it for any of its other
capabilities, and then enable the IE6 tool bar and see if it works better or
supports keeping a list of safe sites as exceptions, which I think would be
the way to go for this stuff. But I can't for the life of me remember how I
installed the Google Tool Bar, how I enabled the pop-up blocker, and how to
remove the tool var or at least turn off the pop-up blocker. I've tried
switching to the Jaws cursor to explore near the top of the screen to see if
I could find the tool bar's components and controls, but no luck. Yet I
know there's a way to do all this with Jaws, even though I've forgotten the
steps.
Can anyone refresh my memory with instructions?
