Arianna:
You asked:
I have an external floppy disk drive on one of my USB ports. If I
remove that floppy drive, can I use the same port for my flash drive?
I'm asking because all of my USB ports are in use.
Ed responded:
Yes, you can swap USB devices quite freely. My guess is that, after you
get your flash drive, you won't be plugging in the floppy drive much any
more. I haven't used mine in months. Remember, just as you can plug
and unplug a USB device into your laptop, for example, you can plug it
into and unplug it from your networked desktop at work.
The real trick would be to use a USB device on an older computer which
has only old-fashioned RS-232 serial ports. I suppose converters are
available, but I've never seen one.
Best wishes,
Ed
