Hi list,
I've been reading this thread with interest. Is StopSign any good? I'm
currently using it, it runs several times a day, and it seems to be working.
From what I've read, it protects against spyware and viruses.
Thoughts/opinions?
thanks,
Chelsea

question ken
are u using dsl or a modem
if a dsl connection
when you turn on your computer,
you are online
r u using a router
which has built in firewall
and a active antivirus program,
spyware removal
ad aware and spybot are accessible
ad aware takes out spyware that spybot does not
and, spybot takes out spyware that ad aware does not,
and microsoft anti spyware
once loaded can be used thru the menu's
spyware blaster and spyware gard
work together to block spyware from being installed in the first place
so, after cleaning out any spyware with the 3 utilities mentioned above
and you install the blaster and gard
i run updates on all
about once a week
in this new world of our's
of, communicating
with the computer
there are far more good things like this list,
of people sharing their knowledge and experience
but,
there are a few evils
cracker, hackers, and attackers,
who are out there, trying and quite successfully
destroying peoples computers
and their lives, from a far
its your responsibility to protect your own system
with a little effort and the help of this list
those programs mentioned above
can help keep your computer clean, and a mean machine
the door swings both ways
i know people who have nothing protecting their computer
and have not had any problems
and the opposite
with security maxed out
and are infested
with viruses, and a hijacker
getting off the soapbox
so, one can
1 do, one's best to stay protected
2run around hoping one does not catch something bad
3 turn off the computer, and step back,
into the past,
world of snail mail, and telephone

Hi Ken,
I've tried all kind of Jaws friendly products and I gave up. Too much
interference from various products when browsing. Right now, I'm using
Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1. It runs every night at 2 AM. Is it efficient?
No idea, although I can remove or quarantine unwanted but repeated
intrusions. According to a recent study, if you combine the best of the best
antivirus, antispyware, etc, your computer protection will not exceed 60 or
70%. With the 30 to 40% remaining, it's like having intruders invading your
home or your office anytime, anywhere, and no matter what. Linux offers
better, stronger and more reliable protection, but then again, it's still in
childhood mood mode, and we don't participate or push enough to have
efficient accessibility. So the bottom line is, we rushed to this
cyberspace toy like an orphan baby! What a mess!
