John,

You have touched upon a very controversial aspect of Freedom Scientific's
SMA renewal policy.

If you choose not to pay for the SMAs through 3 or four upgrades, and then
decide to buy an SMA so you can get the latest update, FS will expect you to
pay for the previous SMAs.

Since each SMA covers 2 upgrades, if there have been 4 upgrades since you
last had an active SMA, and now a fifth upgrade has been released, you would
have to pay for 3 SMAs in order to be authorized to use the latest SMA.

This is a lousy deal for JFW users such as me, who were unable to use any
versions of JFW between 3.7U and 5.10, because of an incompatibility between
the Windows Sticky Keys utility and those versions of JFW. The FS SMA policy
forces us to pay for versions of JFW which render our computers unusable.

I having been paying for upgrades and don't see much difference oh yes more
bells & whistles but that is all.
