Hi,
I just tried this while reading your message using Outlook Express, and I
suspect that what you do here will be the same regardless of whatever
application you're using. In the JAWS Options Menu (insert+v), look for the
branch containing Numbers options. There's an item in that branch that says
"speak single digits if number contains dashes". When I looked at that option
it was turned on, and pressing the space bar followed by Enter turned it off.
Problem solved.
If you want a more permanent solution, open configuration manager by pressing
insert+6 on the number row, not the numpad. In the Set Options menu (alt+s),
open Text Processing options. Uncheck the "speak single digits if number
contains dashes" checkbox. You may have to tab a few times to find it. click
OK, then save the configuration.

That oughta do it.

Tom

  Subject: Reading hyphenated numbers smoothly

Hi! When JAWS reads a hyphenated number, say in a basketball score or a
range of numbers, like 102-85 or 25-30, it's being read out as single digits,
yet when I remove the hyphen it reads out as a complete number. How can I set
JAWS so that it reads a hyphenated number smoothly? I'm using V11. Thank you.
