Hello Chris.
Did you install the version of Jaws for windows that supports your operating
system? I would recommend to not use the merge settings feature. You can
always merge settings at a later time.

I can sure understand your apprehention! However, I think you would be safe
installing version 6, just be sure to keep JAWS 5 on your hard drive. I had
to go back to square 1 and everything is working now. Also it's funny that
you mention the JAWS murge. I know everyone might point a finger at that,
but I uninstalled, and then re-installed 6.10, and the second time I chose
not to murge with JAWS 6 and had exactly the same problem. It just looks as
if my system and JAWS 6.1 do not get along.
