RE: More on my crazy returned mail issue

My guess is that Cheryl McFarlane is someone on the JFW list who has
either changed her e-mail address or closed her e-mail account. In the
past, I have seen messages I've sent to the list returned to me in this
way. If that is the case, I'm just surprised that it has gone on so
long without our administrator removing the offending name from the
list.

Take care...
Dave

this is not the problem I'm having. Again:

1. I send a message or a reply to this list
2. The message posts normally to the list.
3. I receive a rejected mail notice, but *not* from this list. The
notice
informs me that my attempt to email someone named Cheryl McFarlane has
been
rejected several times and is being returned to me. The notice, as is
normal, comes with my rejected message included as an attachment. And
it
has the same subject line as the message I've just posted to the list.

In other words, when I write to the list as I'm doing right now, the
message
goes to the list and is also sent to Cheryl McFarlane, whoever that is,
and
Cheryl McFarlane's personal filter or email server rejects it, and I'm
notified of this.

Naturally, I haven't sent anything to Cheryl McFarlane. And I don't
know
how my messages to the list are being snatched and sent to an address in
her
name.

Hope that's more clear.

I just got a bounced message also, but I know my message showed up, at
least it did in my JFW mail filter. I haven't found a reply yet, but I
got it back on the list mail, and then received a notice that it
couldn't be delivered. I checked, and I didn't find anyone's name other
than JFW in the message source.

Okay, whoever is following this with any curiosity or sympathy. Here's
something I hadn't noticed when I first wrote in about this issue. I
just used Insert A to see what the returned message might be that's
attached to the rejected mail notice. Well, check this out-- the
subject line of each rejected message returned to me as if I'd tried to
mail it to Cheryl McFarlane, whoever that is, and her email server had
rejected it, is the subject line of my most recent message to this very
list! In a moment, as soon as I send this to the list, I'll get another
notice telling me my message to Cheryl McFarlane bearing this very
subject line is being returned and advising me that it might be stuck in
a loop of some sort.

For the really tech savvy here, this ought to be a clue about something
or other. Whatever is doing this is connected to this list, and email
under my name and with the subject line of my most recent message to
this list is being automatically sent to someone and being returned to
me personally.

I forwarded a copy of one of these notices to my ISP tech support people
so they could check out the headers, but meantime, I just wanted to
mention this. Maybe someone here has a bug that's gotten into their
address book and they don't know it.
