Hello Alice: When you press CAPS LOCK+COMMA quickly three times, JAWS tells you the ASCII value for that character. The same thing happens when you are using the desktop keyboard layout and you press the NUM PAD 5 key quickly three times. so, for example, if the cursor was on a space, and you press CAPS LOCK+COMMA quickly three times, JAWS would tell you that the space character has an ASCII 32. In fact, JAWS will say "character 32". By the way, another way to turn off the use of PHONETIC CHARACTER PRONUNCIATION FUNCTION AND THE SPELL WORD FUNCTION IS TO PRESS UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW, HOME, END, PGUP and PGDN keys.
