Yall,
I hit okay. I've done this in previous versions of jaws with absolutely no
problem. I'm not a new jaws user. Been using it since 1999. There are
some things in jaws I am not so familiar with, but the configuration manager
is one that I've used lots and lots. In jaws 7.10 and 7.0 I have word set
differently with the punctuation than the other applications, and it works
in those versions. That's why this baffles me so much.
I can see the changes when I look in the customize punctuation. In the word
JSS file it shows all of the punctuation as all set to be spoken. But when
I go into the synthesizer options it will not change from whatever the
default.jss file is.
It says controlled by synthesizer, but I did try to change it in the default
to controlled by jaws to see would that change anything, and it won't!
Soooo frustrating! I don't know...

Depends on your definition of clearly. You can save configuration
manager till the cows come home, and the changes will not take effect if
you did not hit OK after you made the changes.

that's the point, she clearly stated that she saved the changes in
the proper manner, yet JAWS 8 refuses to save her settings.
