Dear All thanks for the help so far. I am using a demo of JAWS 7.0 since I am waiting for my upgrade. I have also used my existing authorized copy of JAWS 6.2 Professional with the same results. What worries me is that the Narrator, which is supposed to work with the XP 2005 Media Centre application (I have heard a podcast where this was being demonstrated), is not working. I have always been under the impression that JAWS Standard and Professional is exactly the same application but is only authorized for different versions of Windows and therefore the demo should be okay in this instance. Am I correct in assuming that you are suggesting that this is not the case and that there are more differences between JAWS standard and Professional than meets the eye? To those who use the Media Centre application successfully, can you please let me have a short summary of the components that you are using? I am especially interested in the video cards that you are using as well as any JAWS settings that you may have changed. I have pretty much a default install of JAWS. I have disabled typing echo, Set verbosity to Advanced and set graphics to read labelled graphics only. I have also made the rcommended changes to XP as advised by Freedom Scientific for smooth operation with JAWS. Those are the only changes. I am also using a graphics resolution of 1024 x 768 on True colour. Again, my setup: Asus P5GD1-VM motherboard with onboard Intel graphics and sound, 2,8 GHZ Celeron, 512 MB memory, 200 GB Seagate Sata hard drive etc. I hope you can help. thanks From: "david ingram" <dingram269@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: JFW and Windows XP Media Centre 2005 Date: Tue, 10 Jan 2006 19:31:08 -0600 What version of jaws are you using? Also do you have the standard version of jaws or the pro version. That will make a difference. If your computer is what they call a media center computer, then you also have the media center version of windows which means that you'll have to upgrrade to the pro version of jaws. -- To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
