That attachment announcement is very annoying, however I've learned to ignore it. Jaws announced that an email was an attachment even when I had no anti-virus software on my computer, so I don't think the anti-virus software is the issue.
I wish I could help, but I really don't know how to stop Jaws from saying that.

There seem to be two schools of thought on the outgoing mail scan. Which one you hold to I guess depends on whose argument is sounder to you. Some people believe very strongly in scanning outgoing e-mail, just in case something might have snuck by. Others, and I personally fall into this latter category, feel that if a computer is well-protected anyway, it's hard to imagine an outgoing mail scan being able to add any more protection. As for the phantom attachment announcement, I would personally be inclined not to suspect your anti-virus package, since there is no message at the bottom of your e-mails saying that the message was scanned. It could be that Yahoogroups has stripped out that attachment. I know this message probably hasn't been a great deal of help, but I hope it provided you something to consider. The certification is just the message it places at the bottom of the mail saying it's scanned with AVG. DO NOT turn off the actual checking of email though. Rick here is an older text I have, it's not for AVG 7.5 but it should get you where you need to be. Greetings, Let me start by saying, thanks to all that offered suggestions regarding the non existing email attachment indication issue . This annoying problem has been resolved thanks to Denis, AKA Start button. It appears that you need to uncheck the incoming and out going Certify mail checkboxes. To turn off this annoying AVG Free option, perform the following steps: 1. Open AVG, tab once to the control center button and tap space bar. 2. Use alt plus V to open the view menu and down arrow to the components submenu icon and then tap enter. 3. Down arrow to the email scanner icon and then tap enter. 4. Tab to the configure button and then tap enter. 5. Tab to and uncheck the two Certify mail checkboxes. 6. Now tab to the OK button and enter and then tab to the OK button again and enter. This should have eliminated the problem and you now can close AVG Free with alt plus F4.
