Strange things are happening with JAWS 11 to me, as well. If often
does not read the E-mail text inWindows Live Mail, as well as in MS-Word.

Subject: JAWS reading problems

Does anyone have this happen?

It does not seem to matter what program I am using. It could be an
email, or a word processing file.
It could be the heading of the focused item, such as in the List View
of my Inbox.
If it is even a word processing task I am doing using Wordpad. And I
am reading text using navigation comands by sentence or by paragraph,
strange things are taking place.

My most recent update of Jaws version 11 is now doing this too often
any longer to ignore doing these peculiar things and it is really
affecting my work.

JAWS seems to be speaking the previously focused thing focused,
rather than the current thing.

I am finding that just writing and editing what I write to be just
crazy.
At first, I thought it was just me. But it seems to be happening a
whole lot.

The reading of the simple current cursor position seems to not be
responding correctly.

When this is happening, on say the List View of my Windows Live Mail
inbox, the focus needs to be changed back and forth before I can be
sure which email is being focused upon. Otherwise I might delete the
wrong thing!

Perhaps it is related, but I find this cursor thing happens also when
writing an email. On this email for example, I am writing to you in
plain text using Windows Live Mail.

I may be going along alright. And then when I go back to the top of
my email text I have written, the sounds occur for that JAWS form
mode, the upward pitch for on and downward pitch for off.

Right now, here at the bottom of my message, hit down arrow. I hear
the downward pitch. And arrow up and then the upward pitch.

So, am I crazy? Can anyone explain, or suggest what is going on, or
how to better manage it?

There is a delay also in the repsonse, if that helps. If I go too
quickly, the focus will be off for sure. I have 1 GB of RAM on this
Windows XP machine. In other ways it seems fairly quick and working
well.

Thanks.
Rik
