You might also want to check your tool bars, normally all that should be
up are formatting and standard, the rest seem to clutter up the screen
and make it difficult to edit.

It also depends on the screen resolution.  800 by 600 with a Word screen
set to 100 percent might not always work well.  I have 1024 by 768.  A
Word screen set to 100 percent does just fine.  If you are running 800
by 600 screen resolution and can handle a higher setting, you might want
to try that first.
