Thanks, I'll give it a go as it is one thing I had not thought to try.

Dave,

This is a real longshot, but try restarting JAWS so it is not running as a
service; i.e. just restart it from your desktop shortcut. I have the Office
2000 suite on an old Windows 2000 server machine that I use for my mailing
list subscriptions. I find some very unusual behavior from JAWS when it is
started upon bootup; but everything works when it is restarted from the
desktop.

HTH,
Pat

Subject: JAWS 9 / MS Word 2000 / Problem

Hi All, Could my JAWS 9.0.2169 be causing me problems with my use of my old
Microsoft Word 2000 documents?
Since using the latest JAWS 9, I am having trouble with Word Documents.
As the day rolls along and I open, edit and close various word documents,
JAWS begins to slow, especially while using Outlook Express e mail
functions.
I will change applications and all I hear open will be JAWS and Outlook
Express but when I attempt to shut down the computer, it will ask me about
one or more word documents and if I want to save changes to them. As I
mentioned, I may have opened word documents and saved their changes before
closing them but somehow they must still be live somehow.
If any of this makes sense, I would appreciate any tips or hints on how to
prevent JAWS from slowing down as my day progresses without having to do a
restart before the whole saga begins anew. Thanks, Mitch
