JAWS 7.0 and percentages being read

I just installed a copy of JAWS 7.0 on my computer at work.  [I am a sighted user of JAWS, who has used JAWS 5.0 for approximately two years to test the accessibility of data in computer databases when using JAWS.] I have a very basic question.  When I open a new window, a percentage is read given to me.  What does this percentage refer to?  I have much to learn.  I greatly appreciate your help.
