Okay, I really am getting to the end of my rope on this one for sure. Here's what's going on. When I first installed JAWS 10 on my Vista lap top. All went very well; except for one thing. I notice that I had trouble navigating to the program installations folder on either my primary hard drive or else a copy of said folder on my 500GB USB drive. I just put this down to a Windows systemic issue and thought no more of it. . Then, along came update version 10.0.1154. Beginning with that update, I found I could not navigate message list views in Windows Mail nor file lists in the Explorer environment. FS tech support could not help, so, I reverted back to the original final release of JAWS 10. During the course of the past 3 weeks, (while my girlfriend was here visiting me), we put an account for her on my machine. This account has full administrative rights; but, I doubt this has anything to do with the matter at hand. From time to time, even the original build of JAWS 10 would freeze up when I tried to navigate message lists in either one of our accounts. There were even at least 3 times when a totally clean re-installation of JAWS 10 was found to be necessary. On the day Sarah physically departed, I tried to check my e-mail only to discover that this issue which began with build 10.0.1154 popped up again. This time, no matter how many efforts I made at repair, no matter that I ran 5 clean installations of the original version of JAWS 10, still, the issue remains. As a consequence, I'm back to using JAWS 9. While I must admit that I do miss some of the new features of JAWS 10, I am beginning to be of Sarah's opinion that JAWS 10 has more which is problematic about it than is good for my machine. Remember that I said earlier that navigation to and through the program installation files folder was problematic with JAWS 10? Well, what I meant by that was that every time I tried to open that particular folder, I'd always have to wait for at least 2 minutes before I could navigate through it. Now, however, with JAWS 9, I find that the folder opens right away and immediate navigation is at once possible and completely so. This causes me to believe that the issue was never a Windows systemic issue in the first place, but rather, an issue with the way that JAWS 10 was attempting to focus on it. As for my Vista settings, In the Explorer environment, details is check as the default view, hide extensions for known file types is unchecked, show hidden files and folders is checked, Show system files is unchecked. Can any of y'all out there quite possibly suggest what might be the trouble; and, how, if possible, to remedy it? Thanks.
