you may want to try a software called copy trans manager.
www.copytrans.net
they make several ipod related software but only copy trans manager is free, so be sure to check this one.
it makes for us transfer music to ipod much more easy, cause you don't use the itunes library, but a regular open file dialogue box to select tracks.
