you can't delete the internet explorer Icon, if it's not there, look in 
internet options in the control panel under advanced, or when you have 
internet explorer open, alt T for tools, O for options I think it is, then 
control tab to advanced and then go through the settings, there's one there 
for show internet explorer on the desktop, make sure that's on. That's about 
the only way I can think  of to get rid of that.
