It was purely because that link was the one I came across. It actualy redirected me away from the Vista site to the XP version anyway.


However I have solved the problem now. It was my IE settings, I have bought a new PC and the manufacturer, Acer, had the settings all very restricted. I didn't think to restart the computer after fchanging the settings as nothing told me to. However now I have, it is all working.

Could your firewall software be making that noise? Also, why are you
trying to download IE7 from the Windows Vista site, not the IE site
(presumably want the XP version not the Vista version, as IE7 is built
into Vista)?
