So, what exactly to you mean "accessing them" without the "Web interface?"
Gmail isn't too bad, in my opinion; however, all Webmail applications (like 
pretty much all Web applications) are slow, awkward and clunky.  That, however, 
appears to be the future of software.
As to an alternative to the "Web interface," please enlighten us.

Yea, I totally agree with Google Docks, but rest of them like Gmail, 
Google voice, Google Calendar, and Google Contacts have alternative way 
of accessing them without using the web interface. Also, the web 
interface is hard to navigate, but it's not like totally inaccessible. 
However, I can see how people without prior experience with their web 
interface can be totally lost.
