Try changing the view in the folder window to "details". Just choose the "view" menu and then the "details" choice. You'll get a column with the sizes for files (but not folders). You won't hear the sizes as you up/down arrow through the list, but if you press insert+up arrow to hear the current line, you'll get all the info including the size. For a folder you'll have to right click it and choose properties. You'll then need to use the jaws cursor in the general tab of the properties dialog to find the size and number of sub-files and folders. This takes windows a while to calculate sometimes, so read it several times to see that it's stopped changing before exiting the dialog. hth, Chip ------------------------------ Chip Orange Database Administrator Florida Public Service Commission Chip.Orange@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (850) 413-6314 (Any opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Florida Public Service Commission.) ________________________________ From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Morey Worthington Sent: Monday, May 26, 2008 8:12 AM To: JFW Subject: Getting files/folders to show size Hello all, Using Jaws 9, newest update, and W/Vista. In the folder options on the control panel, I have show file/folder size checked. But when I go to a file/folder and press the Jaws/Page down key nothing is said. What do I have to do to get Jaws to tell me the size of these items? Should I have details highlighted for every where I want to have file size recognized? Thanks, Morey
