Below is the message I received from Freedom Scientific in response to my message to them about the spell checker not working right in Outlook Express after I installed Microsoft office 2007. This kind of looks like what they have suggested in response to other problems I have encountered in the past. As I installed a third party spell checker that seems to work well with Outlook Express I am no longer concerned with the problem but will probably check all of the settings to see if they are correct. I believe at least two other list members were having the same problem so they might be interested in this.

             Tracy;

The select and copy was already set to virtual cursor. I solved the
problem
by installing MS office 2007 but created another problem; The spell
checker
doesn't work right in Outlook Express. When you run it on a message it
says
all the words are spelled wrong and gives a list of suggestions none of
which are the intended word. For example it will say "for" is spelled
wrong
and suggest "fur, fir, etc. Works correctly in MS Word though.

I am getting around this by copying the message to a Word document,
spell
checking it and then copying it back to the message field. Have you
ever
run across this problem?

Tom

on this page:

1. Activate the verbosity dialog "JAWS key+v"
2. Press the letter s until you get to
Select and copy from
3. Press the spacebar until this says virtual cursor and hit enter.
4. Now, try selecting and copying some text and see if you get your
desired performance.

Subject: version 9 MS Word problem

I sent in this problem a couple of days ago and aside from an
acknowledgement that it was received have heard nothing else. I am
assuming that is because it isn't considered a Jaws problem but I
believe it is
a

version 9 problem as I have no problem when using version 7 or 8.

After copying text from the body of a message in Outlook Express to a
MS
Word (2000) document I am hearing things like "graphic spacer
underline
1 x 1 dot gif" and "graphic table underline corner underline l 10 x 36

dot gif" when trying to read the word document. In addition the "Say
all" command keys won't work. I can get the document read only by
using the invisible cursor or selecting the entire document. What is
this and how do I get rid of it? I tried
experimenting
with the verbosity settings in Word but was not able to change
whatever
it is. Apparently these lines are not really there as I can't copy
them
or even navigate them one letter at a time. Using Windows XP home. Tom
