The only keystroke necessary  to delete the contents of a cell is the delete
key.  Merely highlight the cell with your cursor and press the delete key.
There is no need to use the edit key.

You may copy the entire contents of a cell by highlighting it with your
cursor and pressing the control - C key combination.  There is no need to
use the edit key.
