outlook express script compiling error

I wondered if anyone has run across this error when hitting control s to
recompile scripts. F.S. had suggested an O.E. fix for me and they said
first step is to open the script manager with insert zero and just hit
control s to recompile. But when I do this it says "error unknown variable
unread messages" and then says okay button. So it can't recompile because
of whatever this "unknown variable unread message error" is. Is there a way
to fix this so I can recompile? They were successfully recompiled in jaws 6
but this error occurs in jaws 5.10. Thanks.
