I too have had a very similar problem with adobe digital editions freezing
at the initializing stage. After two weeks dealing with adobe tech support,
trying all kinds of computer configurations under the sun, I never did get
the issue resolved. I also tried this with Window-eyes, and got the same
results.
It would be too bad if this were an digital editions not working with a
screen reader thing, since for years adobe has trumpeted that they were all
for accessibility. I have been to the Adobe headquarters because of work,
and they have always been open to accessibility in the past.

Subject: EBook reader
Hello,
I'm looking to purchase some ebooks, and it says that i need to authorize
the digital editions in adobe reader. When I open adobe reader 9 and try
going through the digital editions authorization in the file menu, my
computer freezes and everything just stops working. Is this a jaws issue?
Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, I downloaded Microsoft Reader, since
some ebooks are available in that format, but it appears that ms reader is
not accessible with jaws. Is this correct? I'm using Jaws 10.
Thanks for any suggestions.
