Does anyone know how to use the windows help documentation

If I click on a link it seems that windows does not take me to that link. If I
hit f6 after click on a link it seems windows goes to something which could be a
page but doesn't really contain anything just more links. IE. I have a del and
I went to user guides then system guides then device guides. I couldn't bring
up any information. I have winxp pro.
